How To: Wonder Girls Sohee Inspired Makeup Tutorial

Here is part 2 of my makeup tutorial!

For how to achieve my face makeup / how to apply BB cream + tips, click here.

Wonder Girls is a South Korean Kpop idol group consisting of Yubin, Sohee, Sunye, Hyelim and Yeeun. One of their singles 'Nobody' became a smash hit around the globe in 2009 and they are under JYP Entertainment.

Ahn Sohee's makeup focuses a lot on heavy eyeliner on the upper lash line and a more subdued light look on the bottom to balance out the makeup.

Sohee, born on the 27th of June 1992 is the group's vocalist, visual and main dancer. Here, I'll be showing you how to recreate the makeup similar to what Sohee wears!

Step 1: Prime your lids with a white eyeliner pencil. Blend it out all over your lids. This will create a natural and bright base for your eyeliner.

Step 2: Line your eyes with a liquid liner. Draw the natural shape of your eyes, stopping at the outer v. You're essentially tracing your lashes. I'm using the SD Extreme Black Daiso liner.

Step 3: Using a kohl eyeliner pencil, extend the drawn line upwards like how you'd do a cat or winged eye. I'm using Rimmel London's Noir Soft Kohl Eyeliner.

Step 4: Recreate your crease slightly over your natural fold and colour your whole lid. For a more crisp and dramatic look, you can opt for a liquid liner instead.

Step 5: To ensure that your eyeliner does not smudge and to last longer, use a matte black or navy eyeshadow to set the makeup. I'm using Coastal Scents Navy Baby hotpot.

Step 6: Line your lowerlash line with a white eyeshadow or liner. I'm using Estee Lauder's Pure Colour Trio.

Step 7: Finish off your eyes with a generous coating of mascara on your lower lashes. I recommend atleast 2 coats. Upper lashes are optional. I'm using Rimmel London's Sexy Curves Full Figure mascara.

Step 8: If you look very closely, you can notice that Sohee has a thin wash of gold eyeshadow on top of her liner. So apply a shimmery cool toned gold eyeshadow up til you can feel the balls of your eyes or eyebrows if you wish. I'm using Coastal Scents Flesh Tone hotpot.

Step 9: Sohee sports the natural lips most of the time so use a light tinted lipbalm or a non colour one with a glossy finish! I'm using Blistex Lip Conditioner.

Haul and Review: Yeswalker/Yesstyle Shoes ♡ Studded Lace-Up Faux Leather Boots

Hello again!
Wow, two Yesstyle/Yeswalker hauls and reviews in a row.
I was approached by Yeswalker after sending them my interest in collaborating with them, and I agreed to do a review in exchange for a free pair of boots!

Yeswalker is the sister company of Yesstyle which is a huge website aimed at selling you clothes, bags, accessories, makeup and more!
Yeswalker sells an excellent range of shoes, bags and shoe accessories.

My choice was this gorgeous studded faux leather bootie which is selling for US$65.00! However, there is a Buy One Get One Free promotion currently available throughout Yeswalker.

After unwrapping the Speedpost packaging (it's the leading courier service in Hong Kong), you see your ordered products in a secure sturdy cardboard box.

Each boot has it's individual plastic packaging.

The studs are glued on well, and none are looking or feeling like it'll come off anytime soon.
These pair of boots provide you an adequate amount of warmth. I was testing these out (for your information, it's Summer here in Australia), and your feet will definitely not suffer in the cold.

The below photo is an accurate representation of the colour Dark Grey. It looks darker in shaded areas.

The left side of the left shoe, and the right side of the right shoe has spikes decorated on the sides. This means that when you walk, people will be able to see the studs! The studding isn't on both sides unlike other pairs I've seen. The respective sides have a zip instead, for ease of entry.

The only downside to these gorgeous boots is the fact that it looks quickly made. You can sort of see the glue used to stick the sole together and I'm scared It'll rip off when I walk. However, the leather feels sturdy and quite heavy, making it great for long trips.

The shoes arrived in 10 days! And that's from Hong Kong to Australia which is extremely fast.
These studded lace-up leather boots are great quality with very intricate designs.
Grey is such a versatile colour which can be matched with a lot of outfits! It's perfect for Autumn, Spring and Winter when you can bust out your coats and wool jackets.

Thank you Yeswalker for giving me a chance to review these boots!

Even though I was given these boots to review, it does not change or alter my opinions. This is my honest review.

Haul and Review: Yeswalker/Yesstyle

I have a confession to make. There was a short break with my posts because my Canon Powershot S100 broke. There was a lens error and apparently, it's extremely common. What I don't understand is why they didn't do a factory recall? Anyways, my Canon was purchased in Hong Kong so I will get it fixed when I go in a few months time. There's a free repair for defective Canon Powershot S100s even if the warranty is over.

So, I purchased a new camera which I'll introduce at the end of this post! On to the haul and review.

I purchased my two bags off Yeswalker which is a sister company to Yesstyle. Most of their items can also be purchased off Yesstyle so I decided to include it in my blog post title. There was a Buy One, Get One Free sale with Free Shipping and I just couldn't say no.

NOTE: The backpack is FAUX leather. I absolutely detest real fur and leather. To be honest, I hate the sight of fur in general, faux or not.

The bags were definitely a bit bigger than I imagined but the measurements provided on the site are correct.

The strips have to be buckled down onto the clips, like pictured below.

Your bag will arrive with the straps hanging out, so you'll need to place them yourself.

The white canvas backpack is exactly the same as the leather one, in style. However, the front and back straps are brown leather and this bag is a completely different material. This might be sturdier than the leather backpack.

My leather backpack is now hanging on the back of my door.

In total, everything costed me US$32 which includes shipping and handling.

Shipping was extremely fast. It took my item 10 days to arrive from Hong Kong to Australia. Yeswalker shipped my item out the very next day. The packaging was done well, encased with bubble wrap to minimise any tears or damages to the product. The bags I purchased are also great quality and not at all flimsy. I have yet to test out the bags if they can carry heavy textbooks so I'll edit this post when I do.

[EDIT]
The straps on the black leather backpack are already getting detached and it has only been 5 weeks into the term. This is definitely not suitable for school.

One thing I noticed about the leather backpack, is that it has a very distinct and somewhat overpowering smell. I placed it on my wall hanger for around 2 days and my room is smelling like leather. I'm currently in my room editing my Wonder Girls Sohee makeup tutorial while airing everything out.

I'm sure you guys noticed some focusing problems in the few photos but I'm currently learning!
Instead of practising my DKT (Driver's Knowledge Test), I'm studying my manual booklet..

I'm also extremely excited to start making videos but the problem with the Nikon D3100 is that the autofocus sound can be heard throughout; and there's no way of getting rid of it. Except if I do voiceovers which is not what I want.. But I'll figure something out.

Review: Skin79 SUE Hydrating Gel ♡ Great for summer

Gel moisturisers are a great alternative for cream forms during summer as your skin adjusts the heat. In Winter, heavier creams are preferred because your skin loses hydration and becomes dry in the cold.

Hello readers~
Today I will be reviewing the popular Skin79 SUE Hydrating Gel. I was on the search for a different Asian moisturiser before summer started here in Australia and was bombarded on the Skin79 KR website. The advertorial of Gain and the SUE range was extremely tempting so I decided to purchase the Skin79 SUE Hydrating gel! It was a toss up between this and their cream option in the same range.

What is it? (Taken exactly from the Skin79 SUE Hydrating Gel box)

With HYDRA-NGC and Phyto-Marine Complex that contain skin activiating components, hydrating gel forms moisture band on the skin, thereby providing some fresh sense of moisture and maintaining the skin soft and sleek for a long time, and calms sensitive skin that has become irritated by environmental factors.
Let me rephrase that in my own words:

The Skin79 SUE Hydrating Gel contains HYDRA-NGC and Phyto-Marine Complex helps form a moisture barrier on the skin, keeping your skin soft and supple. The properties present in Phyto-Marine Complex calms sensitive skin that has become irritated from environmental factors.

Is that a QR code I see? Too bad I don't have a QR code app. I'm really intrigued to see where it would take me.

It comes in a 50ml glass jar, tt measures 53mm x 50mm. The glass jar is a see through blue with a white opaque screw top. It feels rather heavy and it can easily be broken if dropped on tiles. So be careful when handling this product!

All genuine Skin79 products are labeled with an authenticity sticker that looks like the one pictured above. It's the same as their Skin79 Hot Pink BB cream. This is to counteract the growing number of Skin79 counterfeits, something I'm thankful for since I purchase most of my products online.

The thing I dislike the most about this gel is the fragrance. It smells extremely artifically fragranced and might be too overwhelming for some people. I'm more than certain that the scent can be used as a genuine perfume as it smells artifically floral (?) It disappears after a few minutes when it is fully absorbed into your skin.

The product is tinted a light blue which dries and applies clear. I like to apply it before I go to sleep as a sleeping mask in summer since my Laneige Water Sleeping Pack is reserved for winter use. I use a 5 cent piece amount and it's enough for my entire face.

The hydrating gel absorbs extremely quickly, like most do. It dries to a dewy finish.

Gels, in specific, generally do not give enough moisture for dry skin and this is not an exception. It isn't heavy enough to give you lasting hydration so please think about this carefully before you purchase the Skin79 SUE Hydrating Gel.

Pros:
  • Light hydration (which can be a pro and a con, but I placed it in pro because I bought this product specifically for summer)
  • Dries quickly
  • Perfect for people with oily/combination skin

Cons:
  • Heavily fragranced
  •  Expensive for a product that didn't live up to my expectations
  • The glass jar is easily breakable
  • It's unhygenic to use your fingers to get the product

I bought my Skin79 SUE Hydrating Gel from eBayer ideaseller_kr for around AU$12.

It's approximately 43 degrees here in Sydney right now and I am sitting in my unconditioned living room typing this review. Persevering til the end!
